Overview

Our Finance Controller will maintain a complete sets of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provide corporate bookkeeping services. This position will also update and track project job costing and provide financial reports monthly to management.

The purpose of this position is to fill a 18-month maternity leave.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial record-keeping.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Manage credit card payments and online banking.
  • Receive and manage payment from clients.
  • Calculate and prepare payment for utility, tax and other bills.
  1. Financial Reporting
  • Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and regulations.
  • Present financial reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, and maintain general ledgers.
  1. Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Develop and manage the organization's annual budget.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against the budget.
  • Provide financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning.
  1. Compliance and Auditing
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial laws.
  • Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
  1. Financial Analysis
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Provide recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Analyze investment opportunities and risks.
  • Manage progress reports
  1. Risk Management
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure the organization has adequate insurance coverage.
  • Manage the organization’s debt and investment portfolios.
  1. Team Leadership
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.
  1. Other
  • Work order tracking.
  • TE Post Office and Bank Runs.
  • Petty cash.
  • Manage office supplies.
  • Greet Customers and answer phones.
  • Sending invoices to customers.
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services.
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school and/or 2-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively; including verbal, written, and listening.
  • Strong teamwork and entrepreneurial attitude
  • Strong skills in word, excel, outlook, Quickbooks Online, etc, with the ability to learn other database programs.
  • Ability to think critically and identify solutions to problems with strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Process and manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Analyzing Information, planning, and projecting outcomes
  • Oversee the analysis of data and information
  • Proven work experience as a Finance Officer or similar role
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
